As expected, figures from 2002 have grown considerably in 9 years. From just 54% of Americans using search engines in 2002, the figure rose to 72% in the latest survey. Email usage also posted relatively the same growth as search from 55% in 2002 to 70% in the latest survey. This means, roughly six out of ten adults utilize these two core communication and online information gathering tools daily.

With Pew’s survey showing decisively how search is one of the two most popular online activities for adult users, it is only logical that your internet marketing plans should focus on it or be directed to taking advantage of these findings.
